Tfadalo!
Tfadalo is a popular word in Lebanese culture, it means “I warmly invite you”, and almost every Lebanese friend I meet and chat with on the street, at the supermarket or cafe will part on this note and say “Tfadalo, come and see us at our home”. I would like to extend a warm welcome to you all to come and see me at Zena’s Table and join me as I travel the Eastern Mediterranean through food. Here you will see some outstanding produce and amazing food that is made with love.
Both of my parents worked in the Food Industry and having grown up in a commercial kitchen my curiosity with food began at a very young age. When I enter the kitchen, I am able to use my creative side, awaken my senses and follow my instincts. For me, cooking is more than just following a recipe, it’s about listening to that ancestral voice within, connecting with people, showcasing an important aspect of our Middle Eastern culture and producing tasty nourishing meals.
Entertaining is a great passion of mine. When I serve dishes to family and friends, I am placing a little piece of my history on the table. The happiness which flows from having meaningful conversations and quality time with family and friends, coupled with amazing food is second to none.
I am also a busy mother of three children and work part time. The meals I prepare have to be quick and tasty. Over the years I have found ways to make my family's recipes my own and have tweaked some to suit my busy lifestyle. I am super excited to share my family’s favourite recipes with you so that you can also experience the joy of this delicious cuisine.
